Netflix Stock Dips Amid Elon Musk-Led Boycott Calls
Netflix shares fell 2% on October 1 after Tesla CEO Elon Musk amplified calls for a boycott of the streaming giant. Musk endorsed the movement on X, responding to a user's cancellation post with "Same" and later urging parents to drop Netflix "for the health of your kids."
The backlash stems from criticism of "Dead End: Paranormal Park," a canceled animated series whose creator condemned British PM Keir Starmer's stance on a right-wing activist's assassination. Conservatives had previously targeted the show for its pro-transgender themes.
This marks another corporate clash with conservative audiences, reminiscent of Anheuser-Busch's Bud Light sales collapse following a 2023 promotional controversy. Netflix has yet to publicly address the boycott demands.
